The making of Bezaubernde Orte
Blog by Nicky van de Beek
Last week our exhibition was festively opened with drinks and bites, accompanied by a few words of welcome by Prof. Althoff and project curators Alexander Hilgner and Dr. Ulrike Steinert. Before, members of the GRK had worked hard to prepare the exhibition space with the right layout and ambience to receive the objects. Overcoming logistical challenges, hot weather and covid, they have succeeded marvelously! In this photo blog we will reveal the process that brought everything together.
The Bezaubernde Orte exhibition is now open to the public!
Wallpapering windows is no easy task
The paper cut-out design on the windows creates a magical effect on the glass showcases
A game of ladders and lamps
The effect of the paper cut-outs on the windows
Creating a shadow play on the walls
The layout of the exhibition space is coming together
Bertold the unicorn goat has arrived!
The Basilisk - cute or dangerous?
Never was a more terrifying mermaid seen
Bertold being mounted on his stand
The kind people from Dr. Wolf's Wunderkammer
The first banner is going up
There is a system in this madness
Spacing the banners so a pathway is formed
Sometimes a showcase needs to be rearranged
Carefully lighting the tiniest objects
